Palma de Mallorca Airport, PMI, Spain

Palma de Mallorca taxi transfers

Mallorca is a Mediterranean island that together with Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera create an autonomous community considered a single province. If you look for Spain on the map, you will find this beautiful island on the right of Valencia. The easiest way to get there is by buying a flight ticket landing at the Palma Airport, also known as PMI.
Although its size is normal/small, it is the third airport in volume of passengers in Spain. Among the advantages offered we can highlight that is at a considerable short distance from the city, there is a nice variety of shops and its size allows you to move easy and quickly.

Which transfer options are available from Palma de Mallorca airport to the city center?

There are many options if you want to arrive at Palma de Mallorca city center; one is by bus. Line number 1 will take you from the airport to the city and will end up in the port, you can take it from arrivals at 0 - ground floor or the exit at floor number 2. If you are going to El Arenal, the touristic beach zone, you can take a special bus ‘number 21’ that will take you directly there.
Another option is to book a private transfer that will be waiting for you at the airport and will take you to your destination. The ride usually takes from 15 to 20 minutes depending on the exact place. This will allow you to be more relaxed in advance. If you book with taxi2airport, a voucher with the driver details will be sent beforehand.

What to do in Palma de Mallorca?

If you like looking for activities before travelling, it is good to decide the type of things you don’t want to miss to avoid regretting.
Palma de Mallorca is a worth seeing island, in general at any time of the year thanks to its friendly weather. The capital is a monumental city that lies down next to the Mediterranean; its historic center has remained from the Arab civilizations and some vestiges of medieval Christians. Some of the main spots are the magnificent cathedral by the sea, the Bellver castle, the medieval Lonja, the marina, among others.
If you prefer visiting beaches, we won’t judge you, as there are many unique and spectacular ones. If you are staying on Palma de Mallorca city center, Playa de Palma is located at the historical part. Cala Mesquida is another option a little bit further away; it has clear water and white sand, only 7km away from Capdepera. Playa Coll Baix: although arriving there is not easy, it is worth it because of the turquoise waters, the cliffs surrounding it and the few people with whom you have to share paradise. Playa Sa Canova for the ones who enjoy a unspoilt beach and/or doing windsurf is the best. Among so many beach options
If you prefer visiting small towns, there are many you will probably enjoy walking through. One is Andratx, a coastal town surrounded by cliffs, beautiful see and islands. The town port is also worth vising, there are many shops, restaurants and cafes. Another spot we recommend is Pollença: a small town founded by Romans. You will be able to enjoy a great walk, visit the Roser Vell Gothic Chapel and drink a fresh “caña” / glass of beer.
If you also enjoy doing trekking, don’t worry, you will find amazing spots in Palma as well. Sierra de Tramuntana is 15 km from Palma and it is perfect not only for trekking but also hiking. A national park called “S’albufera de Mallorca” can be visited in order to enjoy unbeatable views together with the local flora and fauna. Another natural park is Mondragó, located in the south of the island; it has coves and beautiful landscapes where you can spend a few days.
What kind of accommodations/hotels can we book in Palma de Mallorca?

The apartments are an interesting and new alternative for a family, couple or solo holiday. Sometimes they are offered by hotels and have the same space and number of rooms as a house (1 or 2 rooms with kitchen and bathroom). The benefits of being next to the hotel are that you can enjoy the amenities and activities: breakfast, pool, fitness and wellness center, golf, polo, among others. Instead of being classified by stars in Spain they use the system “Clavos” where the maximum is 4 clavos.
A good alternative can be the “Fincas”, countryside houses/ farms or caseríos that offer countryside activities and recreation. There are many options that go from the simplest ones to the most luxurious mansions. One of the highlights is that the natural environment that surround them, will allow you to breathe fresh air and have a good relaxing sleep.
You will find, of course, a big variety of hotels all around the island, the first thing to have into account before choosing one is the places you will enjoy visiting and would like to be close to.

Gran Canarias, Menorca, Ibiza or Palma de Mallorca?

A lot of people find difficult to choose the right island to spend their holidays in. To make it simple we can say, although it is not 100% always like this, that people go to Ibiza because of its nightlife and the 24-hour parties. The best DJ in the world usually play there during the summer.
Menorca is more geared to active tourism and during the night shows and parties are more relaxing and quiet.
Formentera is really small and has amazing beaches; this is why it is usually the best place to relax and disconnect.
Palma de Mallorca, as we have already seen, has a great combination of beaches, water sports, night life, hiking and trekking spots.
