Kos Airport (KGS), officially Kos International Airport “Ippokratis” and widely known as Hippocrates Airport after the ancient physician born on the island, sits near the village of Antimachia, roughly in the middle of Kos. That central position means it is not especially close to any one resort; Kardamena on the south coast is nearest, while Kos Town at the island’s northeastern tip is the furthest major stop, at around 24 km.

The airport is compact, with a single small terminal handling the heavy seasonal charter traffic that arrives from across northern Europe each summer alongside a lighter winter schedule.

Getting from Kos Airport to Kos Town and the resorts

A pre-booked transfer to Kos Town takes around 30 minutes via the island’s central road. Public buses connect the airport to the main resorts, but the timetable thins out in the evening and on Sundays, and charter flights routinely land later than the last convenient bus, so a private transfer that meets the flight is the more reliable option, especially for families or late arrivals.
