Curaçao International Airport (CUR), still widely known by its former name, Hato, sits on the island’s north coast about 12 km northwest of the capital, Willemstad. As the island’s only airport, CUR is the arrival point for the whole of Curaçao, from the historic Willemstad waterfront to resort areas like Jan Thiel and the quieter far west around Westpunt.

Getting from Curaçao Airport to Willemstad and the resorts

A pre-booked transfer to Willemstad’s Punda and Otrobanda districts takes around 20 minutes. Continuing to Jan Thiel, one of the island’s busiest resort strips southeast of the capital, typically takes around 30 to 40 minutes in total from the airport, while Westpunt at the island’s far western tip is the longest common transfer, at around 45 minutes. Public buses reach the capital but are limited beyond it, so a pre-booked private transfer is the practical option for most resort stays.
